Colposcopy
Colposcopy is a diagnostic procedure that is performed in the office for an abnormal PAP smear. The doctor examines a magnified view of the cervix to determine if a biopsy is needed for further pathological examination. Pre-cancerous lesions of the cervix can have discernible characteristics seen on colposcopy. The main goal is to detect these pre-malignant lesions and to treat them before the progression into cervical cancer. |
