Dr. Jeffrey Yu is board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology. He performs his deliveries & gynecologic surgeries at Mount Sinai West Hospital near Columbus Circle in Manhattan where he also completed his OB/GYN residency training. There he received the Resident Achievement Award in Laparoscopy by the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons and was honored as Chief Resident for Outstanding Role Model of Leadership and Professionalism.
Originally from the Los Angeles area, Dr. Yu graduated Magna Cum Laude from UCLA and relocated to the East coast to obtain his medical doctorate at Albany Medical College. Though he did still spend summers teaching at California State University, Los Angeles and later moved to Manhattan for his residency training. He now considers himself a permanent New Yorker. Dr. Yu has a strong background in minimally invasive surgery using laparoscopy techniques in the treatment of pelvic pain, ovarian cysts, endometriosis, fibroids, and various other gynecologic conditions. His other clinical areas of interest include contraception counseling, abnormal uterine bleeding, abnormal PAPs, infertility, preconception & family planning, and of course prenatal care and delivery. Dr. Yu is committed to empowering women to manage their own labor and general health by providing the tools needed to make informed choices. He is a strong proponent of vaginal birth including vaginal birth after cesarean (VBAC) for those patients who desire a trial of labor with a history of a C-section. Aside from his obligations to his patients in New York, Dr. Yu also participates in medical missions across the globe. He has volunteered in Bangladesh, South Korea, Mexico, and in underprivileged areas here in the United States. In his spare time, he also trains in Brazilian jiu-jitsu getting beat up by 25 yr old ex-wrestlers regularly. |
