​Contraception refers to the medications & devices that can be used to prevent pregnancy. Birth control can be achieved by taking the pill everyday, receiving an injection every three months, or by using devices such as the Implanon, Nuva Ring or intra-uterine device (IUD). Permanent types of contraception include laparoscopic tubal ligation. Of course only barrier contraception like condoms can prevent the transmission of sexually transmitted diseases.
